Privacy Policy

What the site collects, who it goes to, and the choices you have — written plainly, and kept to what actually happens.

Bare Seoul ("we", "us", "our") runs the website at bareseoul.com. We operate from British Columbia, Canada, and handle personal information in accordance with Canadian privacy law — British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and, for commercial activity across borders, the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). If anything here is unclear, email hello@bareseoul.com.

The short version

  • There are no accounts, no logins, no newsletter and no forms on this site. There is nothing to sign up for.
  • We do not sell personal information, and we do not run advertising.
  • Our host processes standard technical data — including your IP address — to serve and protect the site.
  • When you click an affiliate link, the retailer sets its own cookies under its own policy.
  • If you email us, we have your email and whatever you wrote. Nothing else.

What we collect

Very little, and none of it directly. We have no forms, so the only information that reaches us arrives two ways:

  • Technical data handled by our host. Cloudflare serves and protects this site, and in doing so processes standard request data such as your IP address, the page requested, timestamps, and details about your browser and device. This is ordinary web infrastructure and is used to deliver pages and block abuse.
  • What you send us. If you email us, we receive your email address and the contents of your message.

We do not ask for sensitive information. Please don't send us health details by email — skincare questions included. We can't give medical advice and we'd rather not hold that information.

Analytics

This site currently runs no analytics. There is no Google Analytics tag, no tracking pixel and no advertising network on these pages. If that changes we will name the provider here, describe what it collects, and update the date at the foot of this page before it goes live.

Cookies

We set no cookies of our own, and there are no analytics or advertising cookies on this site.

Two other things can put a cookie in your browser. Our host may set a strictly necessary cookie for security and abuse prevention. And when you click a link through to a retailer, that retailer or its affiliate network sets a cookie so a purchase can be credited to us — those are governed by that company's policy, not ours. Blocking cookies in your browser will not stop the site working.

Affiliate links

Some links on this site are affiliate links. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Clicking one takes you to the retailer, where their privacy policy and their cookies apply. It costs you nothing extra, and it never changes a rating — see how we rank and review.

How we use it

To deliver and secure the site, and to reply if you write to us. That is the whole list. We do not run a mailing list, we do not send marketing email, and we do not build profiles of readers.

Who else is involved

We do not sell personal information. The only third parties in the picture are:

  • Cloudflare, which hosts and delivers the site;
  • Amazon Associates, and any other affiliate program we join, when you choose to click through to a retailer;
  • our email provider, if you email us.

Each has its own privacy policy governing what they do with data they handle.

Where information is processed

We operate from Canada, and our providers operate internationally — a request may be served from a data centre near you rather than in Canada, and retailers you click through to are often in the United States. That means information may be processed outside Canada and can be subject to the laws of the country where it is held. We keep collection minimal precisely so there is little to hold.

How long we keep it

Technical data handled by our host is retained on its ordinary schedule. Email you send us is kept while it's useful to answer you, and deleted when it isn't. Because there are no accounts, there is no stored profile of you to keep.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS, and access to our accounts is limited and protected. No website can promise perfect security, but we hold almost nothing — the strongest protection here is that there is very little to lose.

Your choices and your rights

You can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email hello@bareseoul.com and we'll respond within a reasonable time, at no charge. Realistically, unless you have emailed us we are unlikely to hold anything identifying you.

Depending on where you live you may have additional rights — for example under the GDPR in the UK and EU, or under state privacy laws in the United States. Where those apply to us, we will honour them. The same email address is the way to exercise any of them.

Complaints

If you think we've mishandled your personal information, email us first and we'll work to put it right. If you aren't satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia, or to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Children

The site is written for adults and isn't directed at children. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update the date below and post the new version here.
